It’s 10:30 in the morning. You’ve arrived at the Tokyo Shinkansen station. Nothing looks familiar, but you’re pretty sure you’re where you need to be. You look lost, and you know it. The train looks formidable; it’s taunting you.

You’re on the train. Four hours and seventeen— now sixteeen minutes. The passengers around you look wearily out the window at the rushing scenery; green//brown//mountain, green//blue//sky. You stare straight ahead, clutching a brown bovine suitcase in your left hand. Fifteen. Fourteen. Thirteen.
